The vast beauty of Western Tibet
HTI's vision is to eventually operate treks in the vast area of Western Tibet (Ngari). We have been given permission to operate treks in Western Tibet and have already begun establishing relationships with people in that area, namely Ngari Red Cross. Please stay tuned for more information concerning our Ngari treks. Highland Trekking Initiatives is also dedicated to the ecological preservation of Tibet. The high grasslands of Tibet are some of the most ecologically fragile in the world and it is our goal at HTI to partner with Tibetan Nomads in the preservation of their great land. Highland Trekking Initiatives will be offering low-impact treks for groups of 3-6 people. 
Highland Trekking Initiatives is a new eco-trekking company that is operating in Tibet. The vision for HTI was conceived over 10 years ago. HTI is unique to other trekking companies in that we exist for the benefit of nomadic communities in Tibet. By providing treks and day hikes, we seek to provide Tibetans with opportunities for employment as well as provide trekkers with an opportunity to experience the richness of Tibet’s landscape and people.

We also seek to funnel our profits back into projects such as: Ngari Red Cross partnership, education, micro-enterprise businesses for nomads, livestock & rangeland management and conservation & ecological preservation and wildlife breeding programs.
Highland Trekking Initiatives exists as a company to provide you with a glimpse of this fragile, unique and boundless land and the Nomadic People that live there. HTI's goal is to become a wholly Tibetan owned and operated business in the future, thus creating and sustaining a business by Tibetans for Tibetan Nomads.
